Manufacturing Bespoke Seals

Many seals start life as a long extruded "rope" of rubber which is cut to length.  The extrusion gives the seal its 3D profile.  The ends of each length are then welded together using one of 3-4 possible welding techniques. 

AVMR do not currently extrude or weld rubber, we mould the seal as a single continuous part, which has a number of benefits and downsides.  Moulded seals do not have the weak point which is more typical of an extruded seal, however the tooling cost for moulded seals is normally higher.

Moulded seals typically have much stronger bonds than extruded seals, so if the seal must be bonded, it is worth considering moulding it.
