Description

What is a Premium Progressive Semi-Bullet Rubber bump stop?

Let's breakdown this fairly complicated product title. This Premium Progressive Semi-Bullet Rubber bump stop is Premium due to the materials and manufacturing process used at our factory in Wiltshire, UK.  Whilst most companies of opted for less effective and lower cost options for bonding metals and rubber together, AVMR have optimised for lifespan and use a more complicated, but longer lasting approach to bonding.

The "semi-bullet-shape" of this bump stop makes it progressive - softer initial contact followed by a ramp up in force opposing the motion.  It is less likely to damage the items (e.g. door) which is impacting it and is therefore a popular option for many applications.  This product is also sometimes used as a foot to absorb vibration, but typically as a backstop to absorb shock from smaller impacts.

Our 2517 Bump stop is designed to absorb energy progressively, and to fit into small locations.  We manufacture this in the UK, so custom options are easily available.

The standard product is the "Type 3", which uses a "middle hardness" rubber, higher numbered "Types" are harder, whilst lower numbered "Types" are softer.  If in doubt, select Type 3.

Materials;

Standard:

  • Zinc plated mild steel
  • AVMR's Natural Rubber based compounds

Variants of this product (e.g. stainless steel metals, alternative threads) can be manufactured.

These bump stops are manufactured in the UK to a particularly high standard; Metals are bonded to rubber using a 2 layer bonding system (most manufacturers use a single layer system).  The advantage of this approach is longevity of the bond, particularly in more environmentally challenging conditions.

Please note: Rubber bonded products are not designed to be used in tension.

All dimensions are in mm.
