AVMR provides the complete solution for Ross-Shire Engineering in Aberdeen

AVMR Track Pads trackpads on Pipe Pushers and Cable Tensioners

Ross-shire Engineering is a niche engineering service company, delivering complete turn-key engineering solutions, in Water Treatment plants, subsea pipeline fabrication technology for the Oil & Gas industry, and they service various Industrial and Renewable clients. Quality and reputation matters, so they rely on partners that have the best solutions and the ability to deliver.

"AVMR did a very good job for us and were very good to work with. They provided us with a solution rather than one specific engineering job, so they helped with the whole development of the product. We told them what we wanted the material to do, they came up with a proposal for the material and we agreed on the specifications. They made a bespoke mould and they specified the rubber that was to be used. The product is still in operation and we are happy with it. It was delivered on time and on budget. We would recommend them, and they would be the first people we would call next time."

Chosen for Engineering Ability

Ross-shire Engineering required the bespoke manufacture of a product known as a tensioner or ‘pipe-pusher’ in the trade, used for subsea pipe laying application. These comprise of track pads, each weighing 15kg. A significant advantage of using AVMR was highlighted as being the ability to handle more than simply the supply, negating the need for using multiple companies for different stages such as material sourcing, design, tooling and manufacture. This streamlined the process and cut the overall cost.

Consistent Quality and Positive Relationship

Details matter.  Understanding the operating environment, mechanical forces involved, building in safety factors where appropriate, using higher quality materials than usual and manufacturing in a controlled and conscientious way are all part of AVMR's standard Design Operations. This typically includes destructive testing as per the above photo.

"We helped Ross-Shire Engineering design their end-product, working closely with them and listening to their needs. Once designed, we manufactured and destructively tested initial samples and iterated the production process to ensure a quality product.  The products are lasting longer, despite the very high compression and shear forces, because of the high-grade materials we selected, compared to industry standard. For example, they were expecting to order some spares from us but that has not been necessary yet - we keep in touch and they are still using the original products."
