Product Information
Description
SAB Bushes (bushings) are a simple bonded bush with an inner tube.
With a bonded inner tube and no outer metal tube, a SAB is designed to fit into a machined housing. An interference fit provides useful pre-compression. This construction is intended for limited axial or torsional/rotational loads as the outer tube will slip after a point. The point it will slip at depends on the level of
compression.
The outer rubber element is designed to be a compression fit into an outer housing. The level of interference is typically 0.25mm (dia) for a circa 6mm outer housing and up to 2mm for a circa 70mm dia outer housing. Higher levels of interference are comfortably possible (we have seen applications with 4 times these levels where higher pre-compression was required).
Please note: The additional ridges on the SAB bush in the photo are not normally there.
