What are Lightweight Plate Vibration Isolators?

Lightweight Plate Vibration Isolators, or "SFM mounts" as we call them, are also known as bulkhead or plate mounts.  These particulary small and lightweight versions will take loads of 1.5 - 17 daN axially.  (Note: 1 daN is approximately 1Kg at sea level)

Plate mounts are useful when a low-profile solution is required; the mounts use a comparable level of overall space to an equivalent pedestal mount, however a plate mount uses space above and below the surface on which it is mounted whereas a pedestal mount only uses space on one side of the mounting surface.

The SFM anti-vibration supports are designed to protect small-scale loads such as instruments on land vehicles and aircraft, and to isolate vibrations created by small rotating machines (motors, pumps and compressors) housed within structures with limited available space.

The vibration isolation is achieved thanks to a membrane-type movement provided by a combination of good axial elasticity and radial stability

These mounts are often doubled up, either in series, or in parallel and they offer good isolation both radially and axially.
